Lloyd's sister and your classmate, Joyce, died Wednesday at her home. Arrangements are incomplete, but tentatively, the  family will be at Pugh Funeral Home on Sunday, January 9 from 2-4 p.m.

Merry Christmas

This rendition of White Christmas was recorded by Clyde McPhatter and the Drifters in 1953.  It was #2 on the charts in 1954.  Animation is by Joshua Held in 2002.


White Christmas was written by Irving Berlin for the Movie "Holiday Inn" and recorded by Bing Crosby in 1942, and received the Academy Award in that year.  Crosby recorded it again in 1947, and that recording has become the standard.  It was also featured in the 1954 movie White Christmas with Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney, and Vera-Ellen.


White Christmas is the biggest selling Christmas song of all time.

Dot Wilkes' sister, Carolyn "Sue" Cox of Asheboro died Wednesday at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Visitation is Saturday from 6 - 8 p.m. at Ridge Funeral Home. Funeral is Sunday at 2 p.m. at Rushwood Park Wesleyan Church.

Sylvia Cox Moffitt, age 73, of 2955 NC Hwy. 42 South, Asheboro died Monday, October 25, 2010 at Randolph Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 28, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethel Friends Meeting, 2519 Bethel Friends Road, Asheboro with Pastor Terry Kersey and Rev. Bob Medford officiating. Burial will follow in the meeting cemetery. Mrs. Moffitt was a native of Asheboro and was a member of Bethel Friends Meeting. She was formerly employed with Klopman Mills and Randolph Community College, and was retired from Coleridge Elementary School. Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Royce Moffitt, Sr. She is survived by her daughter, Beth Casey of the home; sons, Allen R. Moffitt and his wife Robin of Asheboro, NC and Steve Moffitt and his wife Theresa of Asheboro, NC; grandsons, Matthew Moffitt, Cameron Moffitt, Zack Casey, and Shane Casey; step granddaughters, Jamie Shropshire and Jessica Evans; step great grandsons, Dylan Shropshire and Noah Shropshire; and step great granddaughter, Melanie Evans. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC and other times at her home. Memorials may be made to Bethel Friends Meeting, 2519 Bethel Friends Road, Asheboro, NC 27205.

Ann, Lloyd,
I talked to Mr White at Best Foods in Siler City today and made reservations for Tuesday January 26 (changed from 1/26) at 11:30 A.M. Told him that we would be going to the cafeteria not the steak house. I guess the crowd could do both if someone wanted a steak.
Hope you will emphasize meeting at Sage Brush and carpooling since there was some concern about driving that far (?) and finding the place.

Virginia Barbee Stringer informed me yesterday that she will be having extensive knee surgery Friday at Moses Cones Hospital in Greensboro. The surgery will be 7:30 a.m. and Virginia asked for prayers from her classmates. Her surgery is complicated by her heart condition. Mark you calendar and let's all offer a prayer for Virginia at the time of the surgery.
