20150923 Request for Help with List of Deceased Class Members
20150923 Request for Help with List of Deceased Class Members
Good evening,
I
am asking for help!!! I am sending this email to a random list of
folks who might have some input on the request from Maxine and Olin.
(See email below).
They
are wanting to update our list of deceased class members (and especially since the last Reunion) but it appears
that we don’t have this information anywhere. Ann and Lloyd have been
so good to send out emails when we knew of deaths but not sure anyone
has any kind of a list. If we could get some, it would be better than
none. Even if you don’t know, if you know of someone who might know,
please see how you can help.
Olin did such a nice book at the 58th,
2 years ago, and is planning to do this for us again. Please see what
you can do and if you have anything to add, please send directly to
Maxine, xxxxxxxxxx, and this will be more direct.
This
will be so appreciated. Time is important since we are so near to the
time and Olin will be printing this for us Thanks for your quick
attention to this.
See you soon

60th Reunion Reminder October 10, 2015
Good morning to all AHS Class of 1955!!!!
It
is today, SEPTEMBER 22, and our reunion is getting close. I thought I
would use the email list to remind all of you to get registered and plan
to be there.
Letters
went out a month ago and I hope that many reservations are coming in. I
will be checking with our great Treasurer, Nancy York, to see but
wanted to send this note to all of you.
Can you believe it has been 60 years??? I find it difficult sometime but what a blessing we all enjoy.
You
all have said that you wanted this to be a time to just talk and
visit. That is what we are planning around a great meal, of course.
If
you have not registered, get yours in the mail today. I have attached
the letter that went out in August with Nancy’s address, etc.
The
committee hopes to see you there and let’s make this another great
memory!!! Bring your stories to tell and we will have fun, I can assure
you
Charlotte Freeman Maness

20150831 Growing Old(er) from Eddie
This is too good not to pass on! Good way of looking at long life.
Some of us have reached our golden years, and some of us have not. But these suggestions should be read by everyone. They have been collected from many a senior, each with his or her own piece of advice. Some you know, some may surprise you, and some will remind you of what's important. So read well, share with your loved ones, and have a great day and a great life!
1. It's time to use the money you saved up. Use it and enjoy it. Don't just keep it for those who may have no notion of the sacrifices you made to get it. Remember there is nothing more dangerous than a son or daughter-in-law with big ideas for your hard earned capital. Warning: This is also a bad time for an investment, even if it seems wonderful or fool-proof. They only bring problems and worries and this is a time for you to enjoy some peace and quiet.
2. Stop worrying . . . . . Click here to read more
Roland Cox called to ask that we let our class members know about the sudden death of Robert McCall's 54-year old son Mark on Sunday. Memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday at Christ United Methodist Church on Holden Rd. in Greensboro. Visitation will follow the service.

We had about 42 people as we told of plans for out 60th Reunion October 10, 2015 at the Pinewood Country Club. A committee lead Charlotte Freeman is working hard on the details . Glad to have more on the committee so let her know if you want to help. The food today was so good with a good selection. Cj's now has an all you can eat salad bar beginning the first of this week. We expressed our sympathy for Faye Furr's brother "Dink" who passed away July 10. July 24, 2014 Fun at CJs Restaurant (Thursday)Hello all! Eddie made reservations for our July meeting at C. J.'s Deli at 239 White Oak St. on Thursday, July 24, at 11:30 He hoped to see everyone there. and we had 41 people present. Response was positive to Eddie's question of interest in a (1)Christmas get together this year and (2)a 60th Celebration in 2015. A suggestion was made to use the Sunset Theater . Anne Hamlet reported
positive results when her class used it earlier this year. Good catered meal for about $20. Only issue is that can accommodate only 50 upstairs and overflow down stairs and we probably would have more than 50. Let Eddie have any feedback. Several people told stories and lies never before heard from our AHS days including Benny, Nolan, Don and others. Nolan suggested we should share some of these memories before they go away! here is link to Sunset Theater info. and here is link to photos from the event Photos Here
