Member Update - Boots . . .
Had a call last night from Roland in W. Columbia. Boots had heart surgery
on Tuesday. She had 2 heart valves replaced. Everything is going fine. She
should be home on Monday or Tuesday. He
got all involved with Boots and didn't get to call in time for our meeting.

We met in the afternoon in a basement area of the High School, then toured the School, had dinner at a country club, and the next day had a service and included memories of deceased members. Sherman C. Newman
COLLINSVILLE, Va.
— Sherman Calvin Newman, 87, formerly of 3089 Sunset Road,
Collinsville, Va., died Saturday, June 30, 2012, at Blue Ridge Manor
Assisted Living Facility.
He was born Nov. 7, 1924, in Mt. Airy, N.C., to the late Alfred Russell Newman and the late Dora Tilley Newman. Mr. Newman was married to Ruth Pagans Newman of Blue Ridge Manor Assisted Living Facility. He was of the Baptist faith and he served in the Army during World War II.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Delane Vick and husband, “Ben,” of Asheboro, N.C., and Brenda Lemons and husband, “Ron,” of Collinsville, Va.; one son, Leon Newman and wife, “Linda,” of Martinsville, Va.: four sisters, Mae Scott and husband, “Posey,” of Ridgeway, Va., Rachel Hendrix and husband, “Brady,” of Danville, Va., Hazel Harrell and husband, “Bill,” of Jonesboro, N.C. and Stella Durham of Lawrenceville, Ga.: one brother, Carl Newman of Winston-Salem, N.C.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one daughter, Debbbie Newman Surber; three sisters, Anna Belle Hall, Gracie Young and Irene Ward and one brother, Odell Newman.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at Landmark Baptist Church with the Rev. J.D. Harmon officiating. Interment will follow at Henry Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 11 a.m.-noon. Tuesday, July 3, 2012, prior to the service at Landmark Baptist Church.
