Edna Faye Cobb(1937 - 2018)

Edna Faye Pugh Cobb, a resident of The Cedars of Chapel, died on April 13 at UNC Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

Edna Faye was born in Asheboro, North Carolina on September 9, 1937. She was the youngest of five children born to Jesse Thomas Pugh and Mary Ailene Fox Pugh. Her three brothers and one sister predeceased her.

Edna Faye attended Asheboro public schools and graduated from Asheboro High School in 1955. She studied two years in what is now UNC Greensboro and received a BA degree in Sociology from UNC Chapel Hill in 1959. At Carolina she was a very active member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority and served on the Panhellenic Council and the Graham Memorial Activities Board. She also was an Air Force ROTC Angel.

Larry called Eddie Wilkes and invited the members of Asheboro High School Class of 1955 to join the family for a visitation on Friday, April 27, 2018, at 3:00 p.m. at the New Hope Bereavement Center on Park St., adjacent to the Pugh Funeral Home. Parking is also available in the Funeral home lot.

Larry is being upheld by many friends and family during this difficult time.

This post is intended for the Cobb Family and Friends group which I had not gotten around to setting up.
This past Monday evening Edna Faye was taken to the emergency room because of tests they had taken at DuBose which indicated she had an infection. Around 9 PM the emergency room doctor told me that it appeared she had a kidney infection. He said that they would make some more tests, treat the infection and keep her overnight.
The emergency room doctor called around 2:30 am on Tuesday to advise that Edna Faye was critically ill which was a tremendous shock to say the least. After a discussion with the family and Edna Faye's long time doctor we all agreed it was best not to continue with further treatment. Both of our children and our three grandchildren came to say their goodbyes and try to comfort her for her remaining days. She died at 6:51 this morning.

All of us feel a terrible loss, but at the same time rejoice in the fact that Edna Faye will not have to suffer through further loss of her mental and physical abilities until her incurable disease ultimately took her life. She was a loving wife of 58 years, a wonderful mother to our two children and a proud and doting grandmother. Despite her illness she was still able to come up with quips to keep us laughing and had that infectious smile which could make everybody happy.
Edna Faye's body will be cremated at the Pugh Funeral Home in Asheboro which was started by her grandfather and is still family run. There will not be a ;public service there, but her ashes will be interred at Christ Church in Charlotte, where she had retained her membership, at some time in the future.
