Our next meeting is at Best Foods Restaurant in a shopping Center on Hwy 64 in Siler City on January 26 (date changed on 12/21/09 from 1/16/10). It's easy to find.
I checked out the Mill House at Richland Creek. It's a B & B in Erect, which is down Hwy 42. They seat 100 inside and 75 outside. On line, there were rental fees mentioned but no details on food service.
At Hagan Stone Park in Pleasant Garden there are picnic shelters. One with rest room facilities seats 48. We'd have to cook on the outdoor grill or bring a picnic.
I'll save notes on all of these for discussion at the next meeting.

Subject: Mill House at Richland Creek

Has anybody ever heard of this? It is somewhere around Seagrove on Erect Rd. I was just reading about it on their website www.MillHouseatRichlandCreek.com after seeing an ad in a paper about it.
I was trying to get the directions there but could not from their website (but then I am more computer challenged than you guys).
The fact that they also have an outdoor site made me think about spring there (and maybe cheaper than their building for a function like ours). Peggie Beeker said the next meeting is in Siler City whenever that is. Glad to hear you might venture out more from Asheboro. That was what I was trying to do several years ago when I suggested Hagan Stone Park for one site. Anyway, thought I would pass it along while I was thinking about it. edna faye

About 40 of us enjoyed the Westmoore Restaurant and Ben Owen Pottery near Seagrove. Fred Beane, another local potter, showed us his creation designed to cook cornbread and meatloaf.

Thanks to Lloyd and Ann for arranging this neat outing.

FYI from Maxine on Juanita.
Juanita was moved to Carillon Assisted Living, 2925 Zoo Parkway, Asheboro 27205-1410, last Friday. During her visit, Maxine said Juanita wanted to come home and was very talkative. She does not know names but recognizes faces. If you can't visit, send her a card and Carillon will deliver to her room. Main telephone at Carillon is 633-7600, if you need directions.
